Who Has The Time?!?!!!

03/05/12 | Dana LaRieal Morales

How many times have you used the phrases (excuses)...I would but I'm just so busy...or I wish there was more time in a day...I'm just so tired...well, I know I have used all of these and other variations of them. As I look around and see all the unfinished projects and things I need to do I face a harsh reality...I have the time, I just CHOOSE not to do it. The main question we need to be asking ourselves is why don't we have the time? I mean when I really want to do something I miraculously find the time to do it. I shift my schedule so I can make the party or see that movie or make that special sale. When I set the goal to do the 1/2 marathon I figured out a way to do the mileage every Sat morning for three+ hours for three months. When I wanted to learn how to salsa dance I was taking classes every Tue, Wed, Thur and Sun nights for 1+ hours a night. When I wanted to watch the grammy's I found four hours when I was free. In this Decluttering journey I have determined I make extremely too many excuses of why I don't have time to do something. Setting clear goals (as with anything else) will help you achieve what you are trying to do. I know I am a procrastinator at heart and I tend to work better under pressure...wait is that just another excuse or is there some truth to that? Well for me...there is truth to it. If I know I have 30 mins before I leave to get all the trash and clean the kitchen because I'm having company right after work and I won't have time to do it when I get home...best believe I can work it in so it is done...and in many cases whatever I have to do is done much better than I would have done it otherwise. When I have too much time and no clearly defined goals I get sidetracked and start multiple projects until I look and there is a bigger mess than when I started.

Small chunks are better than big chunks that take lots of time. This can be applied to any goal you have in life...break it down into obtainable goals and next thing you know you will have a big O' bucket of Happiness (get how I used the word bucket right there lol)! So today I will start a master list of small obtainable projects. As I'm working on something, if something new pops up it will just be added to the list...hopefully I won't end up with a 500 item list and no results lollllll let me get post this blog and get started before I get sidetracked lol. Have you filled your happiness bucket today?
